Aluminium 5086 Forgings are primarily made up of aluminium, with magnesium being the main alloying element (around 4–4.9%), along with smaller amounts of manganese, chromium, and traces of silicon and iron. This alloy is celebrated for its outstanding corrosion resistance, especially in marine settings, and it boasts high strength without sacrificing ductility. It also features good weldability, moderate hardness, and impressive fatigue resistance. The typical tensile strength ranges from 230–290 MPa, while the yield strength hovers around 150–230 MPa. With an elongation of about 12–16%, it’s perfect for various forming and shaping applications.

Aluminum 5086 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and limited strength at elevated temperatures. It is better suited for marine and structural applications.
Aluminum 5086 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and weldability. It is ideal for marine environments, aerospace applications, and custom forgings requiring durability, lightweight properties, and easy fabrication.
Aluminum 5086's excellent workability enables easy forging, allowing it to maintain strength and formability. However, its susceptibility to cold working requires careful temperature control during forging to prevent cracking.
Thanks to their remarkable corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, Aluminium 5086 Forgings find extensive use in marine, automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors. They are particularly well-suited for shipbuilding, boat hulls, pressure vessels, and structural components that face harsh conditions. Additionally, you’ll find them in automotive chassis, aircraft parts, pipelines, and storage tanks. Their lightweight yet durable nature enhances performance, energy efficiency, and longevity in demanding environments. Industries also rely on them for heat exchangers, marine fittings, and offshore equipment, where resistance to saltwater corrosion is essential.
