Aluminium 2017 Forgings consist of about 3.5–4.5% copper, 0.40–1.0% manganese, 0.40–0.8% magnesium, ≤0.7% silicon, ≤0.7% iron, ≤0.25% zinc, ≤0.10% chromium, and trace amounts of titanium, with aluminum making up the rest. In terms of mechanical properties, Aluminium 2017 boasts a tensile strength ranging from 380–450 MPa, a yield strength of about 190–250 MPa, an elongation of 10–15%, and a Brinell hardness of approximately 120 HB. This heat-treatable alloy offers excellent machinability and moderate corrosion resistance, making it ideal for high-stress engineering and aerospace applications.
