AISI 4130 has about 0.30% carbon, 0.8% chromium, 0.15% molybdenum, 0.8% manganese, and 0.2% silicon. In quenched-and-tempered condition, it gets tensile strength of about 700–900 MPa and yield strength close to 600 MPa. It has good ductility (15–20% elongation) and good weldability without preheating. The alloy provides resistance to fatigue and toughness in welded joints. AISI 4130 is machinable after heat treatment and therefore can be used as a dependable selection if strength, formability, and weldability in engineered or fabricated part are needed.
