These forgings are engineered for critical sectors like power generation, aerospace, and petrochemicals, ensuring long-lasting reliability even under high temperatures and stress. With a commitment to precision, durability, and customer satisfaction, Sahil Metals guarantees that every Inconel 617 product not only meets international standards but also surpasses performance expectations in demanding applications.
Inconel 617 is a nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy, made up of roughly 52% nickel, 22% chromium, 12.5% cobalt, and 9% molybdenum, along with trace amounts of aluminum and carbon. This alloy shines with its remarkable high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and metallurgical stability. It boasts a tensile strength of about 690 MPa and a yield strength of around 330 MPa. Inconel 617 maintains its mechanical integrity at temperatures up to 1100°C, making it perfect for extreme environments. Plus, it offers good weldability and resistance to carburization, ensuring it performs well under thermal cycling and extended exposure to harsh atmospheres.

Temperature control during forging of Inconel 617 ensures optimal grain structure, improving its strength, durability, and resistance to thermal creep. Proper temperature management also prevents material defects like cracking or distortion, enhancing overall quality.
Inconel 617 forgings may experience reduced ductility at lower temperatures, limiting their ease of fabrication. Additionally, they can be costly due to the complex alloy composition and manufacturing processes.
Inconel 617 forgings require periodic inspections to detect signs of oxidation or wear, particularly at elevated temperatures. Regular cleaning and protective coatings can help maintain their performance in harsh, high-temperature environments.
Inconel 617 forgings find their place in various applications that require high strength and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Key industries include aerospace, power generation, and petrochemical processing. Typical uses involve components in gas turbines, heat exchangers, combustion chambers, and reformer tubes. These forgings excel in environments that experience high thermal stress, corrosion, and temperature fluctuations. Their ability to resist oxidation and maintain mechanical stability over time makes them a fantastic choice for long-term service in critical, high-temperature applications.
